Sorry your calendar has sold out.
May I make a suggestion? On page 14 of the Mountain View Gazette, Jan 30/07 is the most beautiful picture of the horses coming out of a stand of trees. Why not make this and other pictures suitable for framing available for sale? If not, how could I buy one for myself?
You could have a real money maker here.

That picture was taken by a photographer by the name of Carla Victor with the local paper. I am not sure if you could buy a print off the paper or not. Doesn’t hurt to phone and ask. However we do have lots of pictures of our own as well and have considered using some of them for a fund-raiser as well. Just haven’t gotten to that point yet. If you are interested in viewing some of our photo’s you can write to our email address and we can arrange to have you view them and take it from there. Thanks for your interest, Doreen.

hi, i was wondering if i couls put a link to your WHOA site on my web site. thanks brandy

Hi Brandy, you certainly may put a link on your website. We would appreciate that very much. Doreen.

I continue to follow with saddness and anger the unfolding acccounts of the wild horse shootings in the Sundre area. On the grounds that all members of WHOAS and visitors to this site should be as well iformed as possible, the following web site and its links should be of interest.

http://www.srd.gov.ab.ca/land/m_feral_horses.html

I recently found your site and frankly have a soft spot for all animals.Ihave rescued dogs, cats, chickens, geese(missed out on emus) and yes, even a 25 year old horse headed for the meat market.
Although, honestly I have not spent a lot of time reading about the plea of the Wild Alberta Horses… on your site,I fail to understand why the calendar is out of print and/or unavailable.
If someone out there bought more than one I would be more than happy to pay for the cost of the calendar and make an equal donation.
So my question is…..Why can’t there be more produced to,I assume raise more funds,to help the cause.

Regards,

Ray,did I miss something,Warren

Hi, I recently heard of the wild horses being shot on the CFRN News here in Edmonton. This Sunday an article was printed in the Journal which my husband, son and I read. I have since found your website and read more on the plight of the these wonderful animals. I am mailing a membership form with my cheque today and will also mail letters to the Alberta Government asking for the protection of the horses.
The story of the young colt “Wylie” was a joy to read. One saved, how many more to go?
I was born and raised in Southern England where the New Forest ponies live wild and free.(Although there is a round-up and sale each year as their numbers allow it). I can’t believe what is going on in this province.
Would it be possible to come down this spring and try to take a look at a group of them? I would not want to frighten or disturb them though.
Many thanks and keep up the good work. Glynis

Glynis, I live near Sundre and have been watching a couple of wild herds for about a year. I would be pleased to show you these herds but I don’t know how we can get in touch on a confidential basis. I am afraid to publish anything publicly for fear the wrong people will use the information to harm the horses. Maybe Doreen can put us in touch.

Hi Alex, you can send a confidential email to bob1603@telusplanet.net and we will correspond that way. Thanks, Doreen.

hi my class is doing a project where we are trying to find a fondation that were and do some kinda funrasing and i was wonder if we could do anything to help you guys thank you

Anyone interested in attending or wanting more info on the Sunset Riders 4H club Fundrasier & Presentation givin by WHOAS President Bob Henderson please visit or web page at http://sunsetriders4hclub.spaces.live.com. It will be updated frequently with more infoas it becomes avaliable

Hi Shandi;

If you like you could do a presentation on the plight of the wild horses of Alberta. Public awareness is always helpful. We also offer a new power point presentation to schools, clubs and other interested parties free of charge. Thanks, Doreen.

my daughter and i are working hard to advocate and petition for this cause weve got at least 50 signatures and a lot of response to help. here and the us. you can visit us at care2connect.com or wetpaint.com uner alycias save the wild horses. we are also intrested in the adoptees program we would love to have and love one of these magnifacent animals. its are dream.

I am expecting a letter from the premier, pending on what it says I may be starting a petition as well. I will need others to help post it in their feed stores, once it is full of names I will need it faxed back, then the original mailed via snail mail back. I will at that point scan it all into my computer, put it into a pdf file, then fire it off to the premier. The more feed, tack and vet clinic we can get covered the better off we will be.

I should be getting the letter this coming week, and I will keep you posted. I will create the spreadsheet this week as well, so anyone interested in posting it can.

Hi Lana;

If there are several petitions out there then none are considered legitimate by the government. We want to start an official WHOAS petition but not until after the annual general meeting, one that is approved by the membership in attendance and has met all the legal requirements and specifications. I appreciate your enthusiasm and help but if you could attend our AGM once a date is set and then we can all work together, and create a very good one which can then be distributed to various feed and pet stores and the like. Thanks, Doreen.

Hey all,
I was just wondering what it would take to adopt a wildie? Like how far we would have to go and things, you see, i have wanted to own a wild horse for a very long time, but my parents woudn’t sighn the form. Now they said that if I sold two of our colts, that I could get one!!! I am so excited!!!!!! So I put the colts on the trading post and one of them has already 4 interested people!!! I am so near that I can almost taste it! Sigh, what I would do to have one already. I think that what I’ll do is get a weanling filly next winter and that way we can become good friends before it comes time to do the training. What do you guy’s think???

spirit in the genes ..the ken mcleod story…is now on…createspace..and on ..amazon.com..it is about wild horses..

hello. my name is mandy, and i have been a horse lover from the time that i could talk. i just recently learned though that alberta and bc have wild horses and they are not recoginzed or protected by the government. i have started agroup on face book called save the wild horses.

i would also like to do more in the fight to protect these beautiful animals, so if any one has any ideas, comments or suggestions please feel free to email me, or contact me on facebook. thank you

Hey Doreen,
I’m actually in with an orginization, H.O.P.E. (Help Our Precious Equines) and we are trying to help the equines that are abused, murdered and hurt. We help PMUs, OTTBs, etc, etc. We have added the “Wildies” as we call them, to the list of helpings. I’m trying to run for district two, which is Alberta and Saskatchewan.
I would like to say, I am going to try to raise money for this society. I was wondering if there was a way to donate money, or somewhere I could send it.
And is there a way I could get one of the wild horse calendars?

Hi–I can’t believe this is happening in Canada……

Something to say?
