RCMP arrested a few people today in regards to the horse shootings

More to follow, once we know more

What  a Relief, this is wonderful news!!!

UPDATE

Three people have been charged by the RCMP, in connection to the alleged shooting of a wild horse West of Sundre.

Jason Nixon, 29, Earl Anderson, 40, and a 13 year old boy,  all are from the Sundre area and charges are also awaiting to be laid against a Calgary man, age 35.

The charges are a result  from a single incident of an alleged shooting of a wild horse.

However, there have been 30 horses shot since 2002 that were either found by WHOAS members or reported to us by members of the public, and subsequently reported to the police and the media.  The police continue to investigate those cases as well.

This has been the day that we have been waiting for, for several years now, and have had many, many, moments of despair that none of the shootings would ever be solved.    Perhaps this case is only the tip of the ice berg,  we will just have to wait and see.   Keeping in mind though, a person is assumed innocent until proven guilty.

I heard it was 2 men and a 13 year old boy from Sundre.
I hope the charges stick!

Really happy to hear this I hope they put them behind bars

The fact that people can shoot such an amazing animal is beyond me. I am pleased to read that something is being done – although not enough – I’d wish upon them that same fate they imposed upon the wild horse … but that wouldn’t be nice! I love the amazing photos you have of the horses and would hope to see them myself one day.

Thank you and keep up the good work. I will be sending in my membership :)

This news is such a relief. Maybe with all of the attention this will generate, the government will realize that it is a priority that they reclassify the Wild Alberta Mustangs as a protected species. We can hope.

Thank you God! I hope more people are caught and charged, and they pay for what they have done.

I am so happy to hear that there’s been a break in the case, now let’s hope these are the right people and that they receive punishment for such a horrible crime.

Hopefully the wildies are now safe!!

I am soo happy, I watched the news last nite, and felt a sense of calm, as they have beugn to find the horrendous people, taking our innocent heritage away……thanks-you Bob and Doreen, for your endless efforts in finding the culprits!!!! We’ve only just begun…….Congratulations…….

I camp in this area and never tire of the site of these beautiful animals. Your orginization has to take a very important role in this tradgedy and not let this be swept under the carpet because of “family influenses”. I am sure that these people are resposible for more than one horse. These criminals deserve the harshest penalties available. This crime cannot be redeemed with a simple fine.

remember people they have been accused they are innosent until proven guilty!! i hope they are found not guilty and where will they be standing then publish that comment or are you scared to because you no im right

losers lol

650 ckom tammy roberts, wild horses..there you can read who has been killing the wild horses of the bronson forsest,,,,

this is good news lets hope the right people are caught and dealt with properly.I think if things are going to change in government it is going to take input from many people and not leave it up to a few .I can hardly beleive so few have signed the petition.Maybe it is time for a huge delegation to have a meeting with the people that make these decisions.

Thanks so much for making this organization to help the wildies. I will be sending in a cheque soon for a membership. I got a calendar from you guys for my father and he is an absolute WHOAS supporter now.

Also, my cousin is from Didsbury and she said the next court date for these guys is March 1st. Hopefully by that time they can find more evidence to make the charges stick. I used to work with the SPCA and there is a lot of studies that show that people who abuse animals will later turn into murderers and such. We really do not need this type of people on the streets.

i think the provincal and federal goverments has to step in and say enough is enough. When does it all end. This is a true and sad story.Pls keep up the good work.

This is a reply to the person who was so cowardly to post under the name “joe blow” every person is entitled to their own opinion . Now my opinion would be that if you are going to publish your opinion, use your real name, otherwise you come across as a loser yourself. If the people who are accused of shooting one of the horses out west are found guilty , well I hope the throw the book at em ,their reputation will be ruined forever aswell if found guilty.I am very glad that the RCMP are making some headway, and have laid charges.

P.S. its about time everyone joined forces and start getting something done for this species wildwesthorse@hotmail.com

Something to say?
