We are very excited to own such a great individual that not only has an amazing pedigree, and adds to that outstanding conformation and athleticism. Boon has proven to sire a large percentage of color as a bonus, and also really stamps his foals with style and conformation.
As of 2009, Boon's oldest foals are 3yr olds. We are currently riding a mare by Boon and out of a proven mare, Alta Pretty Nita (see broodmare section). We are extremely happy with how physically mature and strong Boon's yearlings and 2yr olds are.
All of Boon's foals will be offered for sale at our 10th Annual Foal Production Sale this year on Saturday, September 12th, 2009. We welcome anyone to the ranch who would like to view the foals on the mares juring the summer and prior to the sale. Please visit our production sale page for more information on the sale. Frosty is a new addition to our breeding program as of June 2007. We are pleased to have such a well bred individual to compliment our growing operation. Thank you to Tom & La Verne Moore for giving us the opportunity to purchase him.
Frosty already has a great reputation for siring good minded, trainable horses. The "Just Plain Colonel's" are known for being very friendly, easy to train, and you just get on and ride them. We feel Frosty's foals will suit a variety of discipline's and be very successful, want-to-please type horses.
We would like to give Frosty's foals the opportunity to enter the competition arena, be it reining, cow horse, cutting, or rope pen, they are talented individuals that deserve that chance.
All of Frosty's foals will be offered at our 10th Annual Foal Production Sale this year on Saturday, September 12th, 2009. We welcome anyone to the ranch who would like to view the foals on the mares juring the summer and prior to the sale. Please visit our production sale page for more information and pictures. We are very excited with the addition of Smoke to our breeding program. Here's a stallion that could halter, rope, and he's already proven that he can rein and work a cow. Smoke stands 15.2hh and if you're looking for looks and build in one package, this is it and he's pretty. We've looked a long time for a horse like him.
Often when we are finished pasture breeding our own mares, we saddle him up right in the middle of his broodmare band and ride him home. Each fall he is used to gather and bring home our cows. His disposition is impeccable. He has been shown in reining in the U.S.A. and has limited earnings due to a reacurring injury as a 2yr old.
Rum Squall: NCHA earnings $66,969. National Cutting Horse Futurity Open 6th place (winner of semi finals). NCHA Open Super Stakes & NCHA Open Derby Finalist. PCCHA Open Derby Reserve Champion. An Equistat All Time Leading Cutting and Reined Cowhorse sire, siring the earners of over $1,250,000. Rum Squall has sired offspring shown in the Open, Non Pro, and Amature, and are shown by all caibers of riders.
Mr Gun Smoke: 1961 sorrel stallion. NCHA earnings of $8,476. ROM Performance and Superior Performance. NCHA and NRCHA Hall Of Fame.
Sire of: 3 Reserve World champions, 5 Superior Performance, Honor Roll Cutting Champion 1973 - AQHA Superior Cutting Horse, Two Ds Dynamite; Snaffle Bit Futurity Champion: Gun Smokes Dream; Sire of Multiple NRHA Futurity Champions, including NRHA Hall Of Fame, AQHA Champions, APHA Champions, and Arena ROM.
Dana Smoke: She is the dam of NRCHA, NCHA, and NRHA money earners. Dana Smoke is the dam of Montana Smoke, a 1994 APHA stallion with APHA points is Working Cow Horse, reining, heeling, heading, and steer stopping. He was also a money earner in Futurities and Derbys.
Smokes foals are turning out to be everything we have hoped for, having the looks of their sire, and quality stamped all over them. They also very nice to handle, quiet and good minded. As a bonus, Smoke is siring a very high percentage of color. Many palominos and the occasional buckskin. These foals are going to have athletic abitlity and cow sense, and the size to fit any job.............that is what we are excited about!!
Currently Carolyn is riding a 4yr old mare by Smoke (and again out of a daughter of Niko San Peponita) and she is proving to be the "go to" ranch horse at home. She is extremely cowy and can hold some of the rankest, uncooperative cows. This mare has tons of heart, try, athletic ability and disposition. Clearly, Smoke is proving to be a sire and we look forward to riding more of his offspring.
This year at our 10th Annual Production Sale we have to offer 5 stud colts and 2 fillies by Smoke. Our sale is on Saturday September 12, 2009. We welcome anyone to the ranch to view the foals on the mares over the summer and prior to the sale.

"Willy" is one of our best sires, stamping his offspring with a superb disposition, athleticism, and strong bodied, with lots of bone and foot. You'll find them doing ranch work (at the OH Ranch and others) and in the arena. Tim O'Byrne wrote an article in the Western Horseman magazine on the OH Ranch, Longview, AB, commenting on a gelding sired by Willy. He mentions in this article how this green broke gelding handled doctoring a cow with grace and willingness, as though he'd done it many times.
To date the most feedback we get on our foals are by Willy. Story after story we hear how "we were sorting on a 2yr old by Willy and a calf went right under his belly and the colt just stood there like nothing happened". And most recently from the Cunningham's, they describe their Willy daughter as irreplaceable and how much she has taught their daughter in 4-H - the willingness, trainability and disposition is priceless.
We love to hear those stories, it makes what we are doing so worth while!!
This next comment has nothing to do with Willy, but is dedicated to one of his biggest fans, Lynne Chisholm. Recently, Lynne gave two of our grandsons, Kyle and Wyatt an old gelding (28yrs) named Guy. Lynne and her daughter showed Guy to many Canadian and AQHA World Titles, and now the kids are blessed to have him and love him. He is in tremendous shape and looks more like he is about 18yrs old. Thank you very much Lynne.
Peponita San Tivio: Very successfully trained and shown by Bill Collins, and owners Carl and Mary Ellen Wilson. Successfully shown across Canada and into the United States. Sire of many great cutting and cow horses, and areana horses.
Niko San Peponita - sire of: Leos Little Country, 2001 Non Pro Working Cow Horse Reserve Champion, Alberta Reined Cow Horse Association. 2002 Calgary Stampede Non Pro Working Cow Horse Reserve Champion, trained and shown by Carolyn VanCleave.
We have kept back many of Willys good fillies, and they are now proving to be some of our best broodmares. We highly value his offspring because of their great minds, honesty, and very nice to ride.
Most recently we found out that Doug Pharr and Brittany Pozzi-Pharr own a gelding by Niko San Peponita and out of a mare we used to own who was a daughter of Big Time Louie. He is built to be a calf horse and has a great mind, he is definitly in the right place.

Accomplishments: 1985: Lethbridge Reined Cow Horse Association Futurity/Maturity Champion, as well as many Alberta Reined Cow Horse Association winnings. He is currently the 6th highest money earner in the ARCHA and has not been shown since 1988.
SIRE OF:
My Canadian Cowgirl: Shown by Ron Anderson, ARCHA year end Champion, Open Bridle Working Cow Horse, and, according to Ron, "the best fence horse I've ridden".
Frosty Shay: Canadian Supreme 3yr old Open Snaffle Bit Champion.
Blue Shay: Canadian Supreme 4yr old Non Pro Working Cow Horse Champion.
There Goes Shay: NFR qualifying rope horse. We own a full sister to this horse, her name is Snazzy Shay.
Tiny Shay: 2002 ARCHA Limited Open 3yr Old Snaffle Bit Reserve Champion, and continues to shown in the Alberta Reined Cow Horse Association.
Peppy O Shay's last foal crop was born in 2005. At the age of 23, on December 21, 2004 "Grandpa" came down with a severe case of colic and had to euthanized............he will be greatly missed and not easily replaced. For many years to come his offspring will continue to be shown and used and his legacy will live on through them.
Thankfully, we have kept a few of his daughters for broodmares and they are proving to be irreplaceable. They are beautiful deep bodied mares with exceptional disposition, many of them out of mares we raised by our stallion Niko San Peponita.
Most recently this year (2009) a gelding by Peppy O Shay that we raised out of a daughter of Niko San Peponita is currently competing and winning in 2D Barrel Racing Jackpots in Texas.
