Welcome to the McClelland Quarter Horse website. Our ranch is located just off the Trans-Canada Yellowhead Highway #16, near Maidstone, approximately midway between the cities of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and Edmonton, Alberta in western Canada. Family members first homesteaded this land in 1905. Vern and Kitty are proud to be the fourth and Scott, the fifth, generation to live here.

| Our family is dedicated to providing quality horses that are closely matched to skills of their prospective riders, as we want both parties to enjoy their time together. We personally evaluate over a thousand prospects each year, primarily mature geldings, in order to purchase those that meet the standards our clients have come to expect of the “M” over “open half diamond” brand. We have developed a strong network of working cowboys as our preference is for horses that know how to go to work every day in all sorts of weather. |

horse the ranch sells; after an initial assessment period, they
are placed into training in the Patrol
/ Trail Horse Development Program. If you spot a
horse on the website that you think may meet your needs, phone
Scott for a progress report. Be honest with him about your abilities
and situation, as that information is critical to our ability
to match the righthorse. If you don’t see what you are
looking for, drop us an email and we may know of where we can
find one, or even may have it already on the place, just not
advertised yet. |

Scott is also available to do clinics for mounted patrol units. His focus is on teaching the individual rider how to work closely with his or her horse in the successfully meeting the challenges of the job. We have observed and participated in training sessions across the western United States and Canada only to find that most police departments concentrate their training on the unit, and not on the very important relationship between the horse and rider.
